Intro

Welcome! This site was created in an effort to provide readers of Ernest Hemingway's 1929 A Farewell to Armswith a valuable resource to supplement their understanding (superficially, historically, and figuratively) of the novel. On this site, readers will find analyses of characters and plot as well as literary and metaphoric interpretations of the novel. In addition to providing traditional study guide sections, we have also included notes on Hemingway himself and the historical context in which the book was written. Other notable material on the site includes our two exclusive videos regarding metaphoric interpretations of the book and the controversy surrounding alcohol and the role of women in the book, respectively.

While we do not anticipate any readers abusing this site,we would like to remind users that this site is intended for use merely as guide and supplement to prior reading and understanding, not as a replacement. Any material (e.g. ideas, examples, etc.) on this site can and should be considered (and scrutinized!) by users, but we ask that readers kindly refrain from exploitation and plagiarism of the content on this site.
